Default Noise from clutch - Focus

Hi,

I have a 53 plate Focus. When I depress the clutch pedal fully down there is a grating noise. Do these have any issues with the fingers snapping off the clutch plate.
Do these have a Dual Mass Flywheel?

Many thanks

Ollie

TDCIs are dual mass flywheel, rest are solid. Never heard of any common clutch issues, just the DMF's that play up commonly.

Cheers for the reply. Looks like the box is going to have to come out then.

To remove the gearbox do I have to dop the subframe? Its a TDCI and should I replace the clutch at the same time as replacing the DMF?

Disconnect the subframe and tie it back, but leave it hanging on the rack, helps get the box out a bit easier.

Your noise sounds like release bearing (part of slave cylinder)

Have you got any DMF issues? (rattling when starting/stopping engine - vibration on acceleration - vibration felt through clutch pedal?)

Might get away with just a clutch/slave cylinder, if DMF is ok.

could be just the release bearing being noisy. if you can put up with the noise it can last for years like that.

either way its box out to replace and for the time spent on it you may aswell replace the lot but DON'T buy cheap crap, it doesn't last!

As above most likely the clutch realse bearing and thay last for ages mines been like it for two years and still fine with loads of abuse.

also you dont have to touch the sub frame to get the gearbox out theres more than enough room to get the engine and gearbox out with it still in. (ive done it in a garden just with alxe stands and a jack so its realy not that hard)
