As above most likely the clutch realse bearing and thay last for ages mines been like it for two years and still fine with loads of abuse.

also you dont have to touch the sub frame to get the gearbox out theres more than enough room to get the engine and gearbox out with it still in. (ive done it in a garden just with alxe stands and a jack so its realy not that hard)
