ALTERNATOR HELP ERST !!!!!!!!!
Right troops changed my alternator today , because my batt light was staying on when ignition was off
so therefore killing my draining my batt in process , so cleaned my cables reconnected new alternator and went a drive for about 30 mins came back and damm lights still on
checked blue wire connection on alternator and all semms ok , its not falling off or anything
, so anyway where does this wire go to from alternator
could there be a break in cable ? , fuse ?? any help appreciated guys its doing my head in now
or anyway of testing it would be good

the blue wire goes to the back of the instrument cluster to your alternator light.but on the way it links into the relay for the heated windscreen as a blue and yellow wire.might be worth removing this relay to see of it helps
i almost certin a mate had a similar problem and this was the gremlin

Yes .. the alternator output 12v wire (blue) is the one that feeds a signal to the
Heated Screen relay under RHS of dash. Check for water leaks over the relay, too

Right troops seem to have cured it fingers crossed , right hope this makes sense from alternator (blue wire) to starter this cable was jointed onto another blue wire that goes away from starter into loom so could not see where it went
this joint in blue wires was all corroded/rusted , took apart stripped and reconnected joint , put jump leads onto my car started it for about 15-30 mins shut off engine and no batt light
so started and turned off engine 3 or 4 times and all seems okk , so hopefully thats what the prob was , what are these wires im talking about

Right mate ..
The Alternator warning light has an ignition fed supply (in the console) to one side of the light.
The other side of the light connects back to the Alternator warning light output .. It could have been botched by connecting somewhere else .. but the Alternator terminal is where it should be connected.
When the alternator produces a charge, this will then give you 12v on each side of the warning light, yes? Now a lot of folks dont understand this bit .... The bulb will go out, cos no current is flowing.
If the Alternator fails, the regulator inside usually earths (or partially earths) this side ... so you get a light on. So earthing this wire also puts the light on.
If a heated screen has been added, the trigger wire to the relay should originate from the warning light terminal - It's actually spliced inside the car on the way to the dash warning light.
You need to weigh up what you actually have in place; Is that blue wire connected to a thick cable or another (blue) thin one?

Blue thin 1 mate there actually the same sice , one has copper inside the other had silver inside i know this dos not matter much , but what was this joint doing at my starter if u know what i mean
that joint should not exist in the blue wire especially at the starter
it should be one piece all the way to the splice off for the heated windscreen relay in the loom somewhere
, i'd say you have the problem sorted,just keep the blue wire seperate from the starter and a good connection where you now have them joined
