Hi I have a focus 1.6 on a 2001 plate and when u sit at tick over it goes up and down like its hunting its got a sports decat and strat thro exhurst systerm wod this make it do this and I have the normal alarm and its had another fitted I think they r working agaest each other because u unlock with the other alarm and it relockes itself u have to keep pressing it about three times then it stays unlocked so can anone help me plz
Assuming it's nothing to do with the car, i.e. it's not new, then check the vaccum hoses, they split, introducing an air leak.
Re the unlocking, it's a common problem that cars suffer, it sounds as if one of the "Masters is sticky", i.e. the driver or passenger door, when the C/L pulse times out, one of the motor is "Stuck in the middle" and so it simply reverts.
The remedy is to lubricate both locks.

The valve is the sole control of idle, so yes it's working! They are known to get 'coked up' and so the operation is not smooth. In your case however I suspect an air leak.
What I meant by new, i.e. has it recently been fitted, so to eliminate this as a source of trouble.
The typical vacuum pipes are at the front by the PCV, there is a 'T' piece as well.

You omitted that!
I would revert to the airbox, this could very well be causing this problem! Best thing you can do, is get rid of the induction cone, they do more harm than good on these cars, mainly due to the 'heat soak' they suffer from, so will do nothing other than create noise!
Also you are referring to the throttle body, these cars as with all modern cars do not have carburetter's.

Well as I said from the start it could be the sports cat, thats why I asked if it had been recently done and if the problem was evident afterwards.
I would check the vaccum hoses as I said as it does sound more like an air leak and it's something thats easy and free to do!
In any case the above still applies, the cone filter will only cause you problems, you are never going to gain any power, in fact maybe loose some due to the issue I mentioned already.
Best thing you can do is replace the filter with a new one, or the likes of a K&N panel filter.
