Assuming it's nothing to do with the car, i.e. it's not new, then check the vaccum hoses, they split, introducing an air leak.

Re the unlocking, it's a common problem that cars suffer, it sounds as if one of the "Masters is sticky", i.e. the driver or passenger door, when the C/L pulse times out, one of the motor is "Stuck in the middle" and so it simply reverts.

The remedy is to lubricate both locks.

ISCV is on front of engine, to the right of the inlet manifold, it has two bolts holding it and an electrical plug, be careful if you do remove though as you may need a new gasket.

Possibly, but it's normally the locks that cause this problem, but yes, I agree it's wise to remove it, can't see the point in having multiple systems!

The valve is the sole control of idle, so yes it's working! They are known to get 'coked up' and so the operation is not smooth. In your case however I suspect an air leak.

What I meant by new, i.e. has it recently been fitted, so to eliminate this as a source of trouble.

The typical vacuum pipes are at the front by the PCV, there is a 'T' piece as well.

You omitted that!

I would revert to the airbox, this could very well be causing this problem! Best thing you can do, is get rid of the induction cone, they do more harm than good on these cars, mainly due to the 'heat soak' they suffer from, so will do nothing other than create noise!

Also you are referring to the throttle body, these cars as with all modern cars do not have carburetter's.

Well as I said from the start it could be the sports cat, thats why I asked if it had been recently done and if the problem was evident afterwards.

I would check the vaccum hoses as I said as it does sound more like an air leak and it's something thats easy and free to do!

In any case the above still applies, the cone filter will only cause you problems, you are never going to gain any power, in fact maybe loose some due to the issue I mentioned already.

Best thing you can do is replace the filter with a new one, or the likes of a K&N panel filter.

Check the pipes first as I say, for it to be hunting to me suggests an air leak, think simple, not deep
