Hi all,
Im new to the forum, been around searching now for a few days with a problem Ive got with my modified escort van, but had no luck finding the answer yet.
I know lots of people have converted the front ends of the mk6 escort van to mk5, and Ive done this, including the cossie lights, bonnet, grill and bumper etc etc.
However wiring up the lights has proved tricky! I have them wired up currently but something is definately not right. The main beam warning light is on when on dipped, and actually the dipped lights are crazy dim!
Ive tried loads of various rewiring attempts to see what I had messed up but this the best Ive got to now! Other attempts dont light enough bulbs, or anything at all.
Only wires I have redundant are the ones for the angle adjuster....as the mk5 headlights are now manual.
I was wondering if I need the relay out of the mk5/cossie, seen as these are the twin headlights?? and the van only had the singles? if that makes sense?
Electrics are not my strong point, so Im looking for any help thrown my way!
Cheers
Leigh

Thanks for your reply.
I had the plugs on the end of wires that had been chopped from a mk5 loom yes. However many of the wires are totally different colours etc to the mk6 van ones. I used the wiring diagrams from the haynes manuals to cross reference the colours but this is the result unfortuantely.
Sidelights and indicators are fine, no problems there.
Every variation I tried at the time of wiring resulted in either nothing, no main beam at all, or everything on but dim, and the main beam warning light on my dash.
Im at a loss, so i may need to get someone to take a relook at my wiring...
Cheers

Yeh possibly could be an idea matey, unfortunatley I'm no good at the wiring side of things but I'm gonna guess you've checked all the obvious, things like relays n earth points? Would it poss not hurt 2 change the relay if only gonna cost a few pounds

Ok I have finally solved it.
It seems I did have one wire wrongly connected.DOH! With that sorted everything seems fine. Only thing I dont have is a warning light on the dash for dipped. But then I cant remember ever having one really lol. The main beam now works correctly.
Thanks for your help Focus2008!
