I had the plugs on the end of wires that had been chopped from a mk5 loom yes. However many of the wires are totally different colours etc to the mk6 van ones. I used the wiring diagrams from the haynes manuals to cross reference the colours but this is the result unfortuantely.

Sidelights and indicators are fine, no problems there.
Every variation I tried at the time of wiring resulted in either nothing, no main beam at all, or everything on but dim, and the main beam warning light on my dash.
Im at a loss, so i may need to get someone to take a relook at my wiring...
