Default Cosworth starting problem

As you may have read. My 4x4 Cosworth has developed a problem. Last time I used it. It was spot on. Parked it up for a couple of weeks and now it won't start. It just turns over but wont fire. Strangely though it will start if you unplug the phase sensor?? I've tried different phase and crank sensors and still nothing. I'm suspecting either my new msd chip is dead or the ecu has gone tits up??

That would suggest to me the fuelling has gone way out, as no phase signal usually makes it chronically overfuel, maybe the fuel reg has gone bad, try plugging phase back in and clamping gently the fuel return pipe, DON'T fully clamp it.

It could well be something lecky in nature, but without trying various things you won't get any nearer to a cure, and this test is free!!
It's a seriously crude way of testing but does work just.

So just restrict the return pipe after the fuel reg. What will this determine? If the reg was buggered why would it run so well with the phase unplugged? That's what's wrecking my head!!!

I know when I had the dreaded L6 on mine that when me numpty mate got the phase out that it over fueled big time, so assuming your reg has gone dead, and is not restricting flow as it's designed to do to keep pressure in the system(fuel rail), then clamping puts pressure back, more fuel = starting, same as overfuelling as if the phase was out or disconnected.

Right msd have kindly tested my ecu and said it's 100% so where to go now? I'd love to get it to them and money is not an issue but it's just finding the time and a trailer to take it
