Default 1.8 black top turbo help ???

Right need some help ive got a FRST and i want to swap the CVH for a 1.8 ltr black top zetec and turbo it.

Ive got the 1.8 zetec and a good t3 ive heard that i might need to use adaptor plates to fit the efi manifold and t3 manifold is that correct ?

will i need to drill a new oil return if so where abouts does it need to go ?

i know ill need to get a new engine management any suggestions ?

Ive been told that the compression ratios are pretty much the same on the cvh - zetec is this true?

What injectors should i be using ?

please help as id like to get a shopping list together and build the engine and get it in the car to see what needs chopping/adapting

thanks for looking guys.

You can drill and tap new holes in the head for the RS Turbo exhaust manifold. Some of the 1.8 Manifolds were Aluminium and looked quite funky and the throttle body was in the same position as the RS Turbo inlet, so you can still use your Rs Turbo inlet that goes over the cam cover. Oil return goes into the sump and as high as you can so the oil level isn't covering the hole.
As for engine management, they're all the same, Omex, DTA, Emerald, Megasquirt is quite a cheap one.
A standard Zetec compression ratio is 10.1:1 I think which is too much for a Turbo so will need de-comp pistons or i've heard of people using a de comp plate instead.
Injectors, all depends on how much boost/power you're having.
My advice would be to use Steel rods and forged pistons atleast because Zetecs just arent strong enough and they soon become unreliable when boost is added.

That is incorrect you can use standard zetec rods. And if you use the Fez Turbo fanimold you'll need to space it up to clear the rocker cover.

Again, it depends on how much boost you're running, a Zetec with a turbo bolted on soon become unreliable.

Although we use them, i have to agree. There old stuff was fine, the new stuff keeps packing up, we bought one brand new and it gave our car a missfire......twice.
