Default Ford ka duratec engine

Hi all. Last week my water expansion bottle burst, replaced it with a new one. Since then, my temp warning light comes on now and again, as soon as I put my heater on full blast, it goes off. It helps if I keep my heater on a little, but then I get to hot in the car. Have I got an airlock do you think ? If so how do I clear it. I am not to technical with cars. Any help at all please. It is a 2003 ford ka with the 1.3 duratec engine. Many Thanks.

yep you can i did for about a week on short runs of bou two miles to work but it isnt advised other than that your heater wont work because itll keep circulating the water and wont get up to temp very fast.
if you get into bother try the kaklub forum for a run through on how to fix it the guys there are welcoming and will help as much as they can with any more problems

Hi,

If you are lucky an independant local garage with some spare time might help you bleed the system quickly for a tenner or something.

It might very well be the thermostat though, they are quite cheap to replace and quite easy to do, the duratec Ka Haynes manual is very useful.

As well as the Kaklub there is fk-oc.com which is free and busy

Many thanks to all for your help. I got the R.A.C out to it, he removed the stat, I dangled it on a piece of string in boiling water. and it did not open..is it faulty?? getting a new one fitted tomorrow.
