The engine warning light is on, on my Ka Dashboard?
Hi
The Engine warning light on my dashboard has lit up, and having checked under the hood the top left container where I presume the coolant goes is empty, could this be the reason for the light being on ?
Actually below is an image of the empty tank/container, am I right that this is the where the coolant goes ? and what colour should I use, pink ?
Thanks, sorry I'm so crap with cars, any help with your websites I'm your man.

well i would expect a temperature warning light to also be on if you have no coolant.
That bottle is your coolant. Also fom the picture it looks ,like you have a 2003>on Ka with the 1.3 duratec engine.
My sportka chucked its fluid a couple of months back and i got no engine light.
Id recommend filling it up with water and looking for leaks, if it looks OK then get it to your nearest garage that will read your fault code for free.
Mine turned out to be leaking waterpump, but it could be a burst pipe, radiator leak, header tank leak, head gasket etc.

i filled mine with tap water untill i could get it sorted, which isnt ideal, but you can always top it up with coolant/antifreeze. afterwards, just go to halfords or a local motor parts specialist.

As said I'd fill with water first, just to determine it has no leaks, if the level stays fine for a few weeks, drop the water out and put in anti freeze, pink or blue doesn't matter, pink is supposed to last a lot longer, but in all likely hood it will need a thermostat replaced before the end of life of the coolant anyway.
