well i would expect a temperature warning light to also be on if you have no coolant.

That bottle is your coolant. Also fom the picture it looks ,like you have a 2003>on Ka with the 1.3 duratec engine.

My sportka chucked its fluid a couple of months back and i got no engine light.

Id recommend filling it up with water and looking for leaks, if it looks OK then get it to your nearest garage that will read your fault code for free.

Mine turned out to be leaking waterpump, but it could be a burst pipe, radiator leak, header tank leak, head gasket etc.
