Default EFI Turbo. No spark

Been asked to look at a mates escort cab with a fiesta turbo engine in. Car wont start because there is no spark but there is fuel. Believe he has put new plugs and leads in it but thats all. At a guess id say one of the sensors but is there anything else i should be looking at thats common. Is there anyway of checking sensors with a multi meter and what sort of readings should i expect to see. Any help would be much appreciated.

Check if rev counter moves whilst cranking , if not check crank sensor and its wiring , they get hot from proximity of turbo and contacts break down , pm me if you like , look at my location

check that the plug to the coil pack has all the wires attached, they become brittle and crack. had the same problem on my car and it took me ages trying to find it.

As above I think CPS may be ok as you have fuel but check anyway as said, I personally would think coil pack wiring, check it has power.

You really need an oscilloscope to check the CPS, it gives an AC voltage, the ECU sees the output in a wave format which is what should be seen on an oscilloscope.

Have only been told its getting fuel so will check the coil pack wiring and cps first. Apparently its been to a garage and they couldnt fix it.
Thanks all

It's getting no spark at all??

I'd get a multimeter on the wiring to the coilpack, then if that's fine, try another coilpack.

If it's not that, then another CPS.

If not that, then your mate's wallet will burst into tears.
