Mk3 mondeo very high revs since cruise control
Hi i have a mk3 05 petrol mondeo. The minute you start it the revs go to about 2000rpm and stay there. It gets higher still when it gets warmer. I think it has just started since a long run using cruise control. Any pointers or help would be great thanks.

if you suspect its linked to the cruise control i'd check its not opening the throttle a bit when the engine is running.
best to get someone to start the car while you watch the throtle body.

OK Gave the idle valve a cleanout with carb cleaner. Is it jst the small brown plastic bit that should move? I also gave the throttle housing a clean out. But it lasted for about a min then it soared away back up to over 2500 revs. The throttle flap was completely down meaning I presume the plate was closed and it was still revving at the 2500-3000rpm.
Took the wire off the TPS and makes no difference.
When you start it now it goes straight up to 4000rpm and stays there.
Any other pointers????
