I have a 99 t reg escort van which has a leaky pump so i have brought a new pump.
How hard are they to fit and can any escort van pump fit?
I have lucas one and i have brought the same model no F181na01. Not sure what model number mine is but can any lucas pump fit?
Any advice would be great.

Not sure about model numbers but shouldnt be too hard to fit. You might as well change the cambelt and tensionser while your at it as it will have to come off. I bought a laser timing belt kit from my local parts shop for about £12, comes with all the pins to lock the crank and pump wheels etc, makes a much easier / accurate job. Never changed the actual pump its self on mine, but from what i can remember, shouldnt be too hard.

If we're talking like for like and they are both non "immobiliser pumps type pumps" then dead easy, can do it without the proper kit as well using a few drill bits, from memory about 8mm to lock pump/cam etc.
As said on this engine there are two belts, one drives the cam and the other drives the pump, the smaller pump one often gets neglected breaks and takes out the cam one when it tangles, so a cam kit with both at around £45 is best bet, also includes the tensioner etc.
Look at about 2 2-1/2 hrs to do all straight forward.

Not sure i want to tackle the cambelt so i may have to get it done somewhere. I was hoping you could just change the pumps over. Its never that simple though ![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
I think the pump i brought is a older non imobiliser one but my car does have the imobiliser pump thats why im wondering if i may not be able to fit it.

If it physically fits it won't be immobilised but may interfere with other parts of the pats alarm/immobiliser.
Have you tried the diesel pump bloke at Brandon, on the Mundford Road, near the cafe before rail crossing, he's very good and reasonable prices, used him for years myself, never had any problems.
The belts are so easy to do, a good engine to learn on tbh.
Are you sure the fault that you have is the pump ?

Do you have a name or number? There's a slight leak coming from where the throttle arm goes in to the pump if that makes sense. I'm pretty sure thats where its coming from as i thought it was coming from the overflow pipes so i replaced them and that didn't stop it.
My brother has a fiesta and escort rs turbo and loves his fords so i might get him to help me.

the pump can actualy be changed without taking the belt off,
but you do need to strip the covers and pin it up so best to change the belt anyhow,
if its a lucas pump you have then it'll prob work but if its an older non immobiliser pump then,
it'll wire up slightly differant but realy easy to wire in,
the injectors might poss have a differant break pressure from the 1's meant for that pump,
and it may fire no.1 in a differant outlet soinjectors and pipes may also need changed,
but to be honest if they're both the same make then i wouldn't think so,
you usualy just have this prob when changing from lucas to cav or bosch pumps etc,
if its just leaking from the throttle spindle seal then its just an "o"ring behind the cover plate,
i have changed these before but if your not to confident you might not want to start stripping the pump

Spoke to a diesel specialist today and he sed the pump can be fixed and said to go to the guy in Brandon so i will be ringing him when he opens.
I had a look at the spindle today and ended up snapping the thread that holds the throttle arm and spring on when i was loosening the nut
This can be fixed apparently so i don't fancey breaking anything else.
