ford ka, losing oil

Default ford ka, losing oil

i have a ford ka, i use it mainly for motorway driving say 300 +miles a week, its got around 84k on the clock, but im having to top the oil up every 3 days or so, quite alot, it doesnt really smoke and theres no leaks lol, is it the rings or bores naffed, seriously considering on cvh turbo for it now

any help/info would be appreciated

How much is it needing each week, what sort of driving and miles ?

Valve stem seals perhaps? These are strong engines 80K should be no problem at all.

its done a 5L tub in about 4 weeks, mostly motorway use

You're worried about loosing oil, yet you want to put a cvh turbo in it?

Quite probably stem seals, get someone to follow you and see if it smokes on the over run. My wife's old mk3 fiesta 1.1 used to drink about a litre of oil a week, kept going forever though!

well its either leaking it out or burning it and if its burning through a litre a week i'd expect it to be smoking. you sure its not leaking from anywhere?

yes its a daily atm, im used to cvh turbo's, lol. had loadsa escort 1.3 bonus's and they never drank a drop, it does keep going tho if a little slow

ive checked for leaks and i cant see anything, it dont look like its smoking,think il get someone to follow me and see if there are any puffs of smoke, thankyou guys

My sister ka was using a similar amount of oil. In the end i found a hole in her sump. Up to 2001 ka's have got a tin sump and its a common this for them to rust through.

I would have thought though if its loosing a litre a week there would be a fair old oil slick under where its parked over night!

thats what i did first, looked underneath as i park it in the same spot every day lol
