Default egr blanking now eml light

hey all
A few weeks back i cleaned out the EGR valve and inlet manifold on my Mondy for the second time in a year. After about 90miles or so the warning light came on,which i was aware it probably would being a euro4 engine.Being blanked actually gave more probs than anything else, like hard starting, juddering more etc ect so with all of this and the light being on i decided to unblank it,and all is well again. But the light is still on,can anyone give any clues as to how to get this off or do i simply have to go to a Garage and pay good money to turn out a bulb.It is not reading any faults.i have tried disconnecting the earth lead on the batt for various amounts of time but none has worked.Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly apprieciated.
Regards
Nigel

Evolution chips do a map that turns the EGR valve off on some cars without bringing the light on and causeing any running issues.

To get the light off it sound like you either need to try the batt off all night or go to a garage with dyanostics

What engine is it?
There are two ways of getting rid of the EGR – disconnecting (usually cause an EML light on) or blanking it off which in many cars will flag the EML as well, as the MAF sensor reads that there isn’t enough air getting to an engine (especially diesels).
I would try and clean it properly.

Or drill 1 or 2 small holes in the blanking plate.
Allows for a small amout of EGR and should fool the ecu into believing the flow is enough.
Fiat and Opel even sell kits with a plate with holes for certain engines.

That helps as well. To be fair, diesels run lauder and hotter with EGR blanked, especially new ones 1.6 and 2.0 tdci.

That's very interesting to know.
I remember taking the pulse air and the EGR off my mondy, about 5 years ago still got no light on, just left the EGPDS connected electrically and all is well, on the mk1 mondy anyway.

I guess it was a TDDI not a TDCI.
Most diesels with MAF will flag an EGR problem when it's blanked off...and holes usually help.

does the system not also expect to see an increase in manifold air temp when the egr is open?

ive done an egr removal on my van, and deleted it from the map.

So did you alter the map suitably to bring cylinder pressure and turbo speed back within factory limits?

I'm suprised Most don't

How do you know it's back where it was for cylinder pressure and turbo speed?

we custom mapped it to give it everything it had,

i couldnt care less it goes wrong, or kills a turbo, if it does i`ll fit a new one. my own vehilces take loads of abuse, and im keen to see how far the diesel engines can be pushed.

its only a little 1.3 CDTI corsa van, returns 69mpg, but shocks everyone that drives it, it goes really well

it needs a front mounted intercooler now, and then i can cram some more boost and fuel in there

the biggest issue is the std clutch doesnt like the torque it makes

its done big miles too, ive done over 25k in a year so far. and its done 115k in total.

So you didn't then?

If it's just your own car and you're not bothered, then fair enough, just hose the fuel in

Thanks for the replys guys
but ive decide its best just to leave it how it should be,just need to know if there is anyway i can get the light to go off by myself or is it a garage job?
the drilling holes in the blanking plate however is interesting, but then wont it still be its normal job of shiteing everything up? maybe worth a look tho but after ive got the light off.
EDIT:- sorry, its the 2.0tdci euroIV engine on a 54 plate
regards
nigel
