Unhappy Ford KA 1.3 8V Duratec P0030 Fault Code

Hi every one,

I am new to the Ford Forum and need some advice and help with my wife's KA.

I have the engine management light on so I had the ECU scanned and it came up with the following code:
P0030 HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 Heater Circuit

I had it cleared and the light re-set but it has come back on again, with the same fault code.

Is this a fault with the Oxygen Sensor and if so is it the one on top of the manifold or the one further down the pipe !!!

Any help would be great.

Many thanks

Sensor 1 is always the first sensor in the exhaust, so in your case on the manifold.
Sensor 2 is the one after the cat.
Bank 1 is only applicable if you have more than 1 front O2 sensor.

Hi Every one,

Many thanks for your time and effort, so just to re-cap I just need to change the sensor on top of the manifold and then this should cure the fault !!

Any idea where I can get one with out being ripped off!!!

Many thanks

helo mate, p0030 means you have high resistance in the heater circuit of the 02 sensor. yes its usually the sensor but it might be the circuit its self. first check the resistance of the heater, 2 white wires i think. if this is open circuit then yes replace.

Hi,
Changed the sensor pre-cat and reset light, next day light came back on with fault code:

p0131 o2 sensor circuit low volts bank 1 sensor 1.

Any idea what I need to do next.

Many thanks

Original sensor? Check for exhaust leaks which cause the signal to be low.

hi there,
i think you'll find the pervious code p0030 is covered by a ford TSB, which involved updating the PCM software in conjunction with changing the hego (lambda). We often find people who have changed them but the light comes back on, so im afraid the only way is to go to a ford dealer who can do the update for you
not what you want to hear i know. you shouldn't need to change the hego again though.

yeah true.the update changes sensitivity parameters in the ecu i believe and should always been done with a hego replacement on the ka ref the tsb
