Default fitting an aftermarket(non cossie) ally rad to cossie

Basically ive sourced 2 ally rads and want to try to fit one of them to the cossie, i was wondering how essential the size of the core is when fitting compared to the standard size?! ( not actually measured my standard one yet so not sure on the size)

One of them is 4cm deep/40cm top to bottom and 53cm wide and the other is the same other than 5cm deep........ would it be ok to run a thicker cored one?! The only limitation is i have a fan/housing that custom fits both but is a bit bulky so may not work with the thicker cored one unless i buy a slim line fan, althou till i try to fit it may still be bulky with the smaller rad.

I will have to make some custom mounts to fit but the only differences are it doesnt have a hole for the fan switch to screw into, was thinking of maybe tapping the end tank but bit iffy so might just fit a metal pipe inline before the rad inlet after the swirlpot and screw a fan switch into that?!

Also the next thing thats different is the inlet/outlet pipes are both in the centre of the end tanks rather than at the top for inlet and bottom for outlet like on a cossie rad. Is this likely to cause a problem other than obiously sorting a bit of hose work out to make it fit?! The diameter of the inlet is the same size a the stat housing so cossie rad pipes should fit nicely!!

As they are alloy rads should be perfectly ok, they sound like they have plenty enough surface area, cooling wise.
The temp switch can always have a boss welded into the stat cover if wanted, or just use a seperate bit of pipe as you say between stat and rad in.
The actual design could cause a problem, after heavy boost it is not unusual to get localised hot spots in the water, this causes also air to form into bubbles which would/could get trapped in the rad by virtue of it's design, unless you ran a de-gas pipe from here back to the expansion tank, in which case it would be ok, just in case the swirl pot doesn't catch it all air wise, this is what I'd do, and do away with the swirl pot anyway, just my thoughts.

cheers mate, how come do away with the swirl pot anyway?! As luck has it there is actually to small holes tapped both sides of the rads for a small hose!! One is blanked off but the other has a connector running out of it and luckly kept this and the hose which from memory is a similar diameter to the spare pipe coming off the header thank that currently comes from the swirl pot!!! So in theory could either t peice the swirl pot hose or do away with it like u said?!

If i could get the bigger core'd rad to fit im guessing it'll work better?! Can email a pic of how they look if you wanted to make it easier to understand how they look.....

So long as the rad is a similar size to std it will be ok, wioth it being alloy it's going to cool well anyway, the rad you use so long as it has a connection point very near the top will let any air out there that builds up too much anyway, I just hate things in the way in me engine bay, I like the uncluttered look.
