Focus brake light problem (stays on)
Hello I'm a Newbie
And I apologise for signing up in search of a solution to a problem.
The car is a 2002 Focus (1.6 Zetec) and the problem relates to the brake lights. When the tail lights are on the brake light is illuminated (both the filaments in each bulb are illuminated).
When the tail lights are off and I apply the brakes both brake and tail illuminates.
Also the centre brake light is illuminated when the tail lights are on.
Any help is gratefully received.
Nick

Easy one and welcome to the site.
This has happened because some numpty has inserted a rear tail/brake light bulb in the wrong way, they have two contacts on the base of the bulb, which must go to the respective terminals when inserted, when inserted 180 dgrees out they bridge both contact points so any tail or brake signal puts all on.

Very many thanks - you are of course correct
That 'numpty' was me: it must have been by sheer luck that whenever I changed a bulb before I put it in correctly.
Cheers

Glad it's sorted, it's easy to do judging by the amount of cars on the road like it, I've done a lot worse than that in my time, amount of times I have forgotten to put rotor arms back, then got annoyed they wouldn't start!!
