Hello all,
I am hoping someone can help, I took the cv boots off the driveshafts to break them down as I want the shaft powder coated and the inner joint just fell off!!
When I cleaned most of the grease out the spring has snapped and has been grinding away at the housing
Now I've come to do the other shaft which is in good working order and can't work out how to remove the good one (Inner) I can't see a circlip or anything,
Just the 3 rollers and a metal plate. I know there is a circlip on the other side as I can see it.
Can anyone help please??

Which side fell to bits?? Diff side one?
If your struggling to get the passenger side inner joint boot off,
the one where the boot clip seemingly has no joint,
the only advice I'd give is DON'T!
If it rotates nicely and doesn't sound dry, or feel notchy, then leave it.
I did this same job as I was going to fit shorter driveshafts
I cut this clip, carefully not to damage the boot, and once I eased the boot off, I realised I should have left it sealed up.
I don't know what trade name or viscosity or lubricating quality's the stuff inside has, but it isn't normal cv grease you'd come across. Much thinner than grease, and it will spill out if you slide the boot off.
Consequently I had to stick some cv grease in to it, which isn't really a good plan, and put a new clip on.

If yours is stripped off and ok you can have it re-condition back on the shaft.
There's 2 places near me who do this,
Drivelink on Team Valley and AMK gateshead.

you bend a few of the little metal tabs up (triangular shaped in the pic)then the 3 legged joint comes out, when you put it back together just bend the tabs back
I did this a few weeks ago on my race car when a shaft failed due to engine mounting failure.

I've just received a full cv joint kit for the front shafts, I'm hoping to have them assembled soon.
Couple of quick things I'm stuck on.....
The new joints don't seem to have any way of keeping the 3 legged roller bearing secure. It's as if the boot is the only thing holding it together.
I'm guessing that the compression once the full suspension strut is in place is enough to keep it together?
Also I have some sort of cap that fits on the spring, I'm 100% certain the original did not have this, would I fit this to the spring and insert it face down inside the new joint?
Thanks in advance!!!!
