Default Problem with high beam

Hi everyone,

I have a 89 rst and have a problem with the front left high beam not coming on but is ok on normal headlight, the rest of the bulbs and the right high beam are fine.
I done the bulb change with the same result and I tried jumping the earth to bodywork as was told a common problem with earth failing and I got the same again.
Is this a common problem? Ive read various similar problems but not the same.
Thanks in advance for any advice =)

Would think it is a live problem a broken wire perhaps, with a corroded earth normally it the light would be dim as not a good earth.

First thing I would be doing is checking you have +12V at the connector for it obviously with main beam on.

Hi Martin,

You were spot on mate, it didnt really click before that there are two positives running (obvious now!) and yes one has failed. Jumped high beam positives and bingo.

Thanks for the great reply and quick
Chris
