So if I understand correctly, what you've got is :

(ignore the wiring colours)

If so, then what you want is :

There will be a +12V supply to the switch. Two wires will then go to the heater box resistor for speeds 1 or 2, and there will be an earth from the heater box, probably either brown or black. Watch the wire sizes for this - the heater motor will probably draw around 20 amps at its fastest speed. Similarly, if you're using an aftermarket switch, make sure the one you've got is suitably rated - 25A will be fine.

Right I've had a play in the garage with a mark 1 sierra rear wiper relay. This is a big orange one with "68 125 Relais Zus. Interm. W/W Heck" on the top. If you wire it up with a sierra stalk and escort rear wiper motor, then the motor will work from the front wiper controls both intermittently (approx every 11 seconds, not adjustable) and continuously (single speed only) :

If it's one of these Durite switches, rated at 29A, that'll do fine ?

What the diagram shows is that with the switch in position I, terminals "+" and "2" are connected, and in position II, terminals "+" and "3" are connected, so you want your power going to terminal "+", and the outputs to the heater fan from terminals "2" and "3".

You shouldn't have a plus from the heater. You should have 2 lives from the switch to the heater, and an earth from the heater.

I haven't come across a mk1 capri heater box, but this is how I think it should be :

"+ from fuse box" to switch

2 wires from switch (fan is twin speed) to heater resistor pack (not direct to fan motor)

wire from heater resistor pack to earth

the 2 wires from the fan motor itself should connect to the resistor pack

Hi Jon.
sorted it the + from fuse goes to heater blower direct and the other wire goes to switch + and the 2 others from resistor 1 for low and the other is high.
Thank god its drove me insane but as ever thanks for the help lee.

Hi Jon.
What do you know about wiring a mk1 mondeo wiper motor?
spent all day cutting and welding brackets to make it fit (could not imagine only 1 speed with that rear wiper) so ive managed to get it all in now all i need to do is wire it up the tricky part is there are no wires from the motor just 5 connectors.I have tryed to undo it to see the wire colours or markings but could not see anything.Another great test for the master?
