Sounds like head gasket problem, maybe even a cracked head.

Sounds almost defo a head gasket or cracked head etc, easiest way to tell is to see if the coolant level has dropped if not chances are it's ok. It's not white smoke your seeing from exhaust rather it's steam where the coolant is getting boiled and then exhausted.

Another way is to check the plugs, if you see one plug is cleaner than the rest that indicates coolant has been in that cylinder which boils, efficiently steam cleaning that cylinder.

You need to determine if it is oil or steam you are seeing, if water/steam it will dissapear almost immediately(on a hot day), if oil, this could be oil getting into exhaust on the exhaust side of the turbo, as it's not burnt(or would be blue), maybe have a look in exhaust next ?, looking for oil.

but i was just wondering if there might be water left in the oil or turbo problem
will check if there is oil in the exhaust but wont this be blue not white

No, blue smoke is when the oil is fried alive (Such as in the combustion chamber) if not it will be white smoke on exhaust side for example.

You should always change your Coolant and Oil after a HG change as the both of them will be cross contaminated so it could be the residue of this as you say.
