Default Mondeo St24 "stuttering"

Hi, i've just bought a mondeo st24, i know virtually nothing about post 90's fords really i'm an old skool fan. When you accelerate the car hesitates and stutters. i recall the MAF sensors on these are prone to failing. would this cause it?

It has a brand new coilpack and leads in it presumably the previous owner tried to sort it too but failed?

its a 2.5 V6 1999 / 2000.

Cheers. Joe.

yeah, tps is is the throttle position sensor. its located on the throttle body at the front as you look at, black plastic connector, never hurts to check them either, as there prone to failing on V6 2.5's. id defo check your plugs aswel, if its had new coil pack and leads, which are also prone to failing, chances are, its had plugs aswel, becasue when they develop a missfire, its cheapest to expensive, so usually people start by changing the plugs, then leads, then coil pack, but it never hurts to check them, as they have long life plugs, so they last a while, and changing the back three isnt the easiest job unless you have rite extension bar and wobbley socket, so there overlooked a lot of the time.

The engines are pretty bulletproof mate, im on my second V6 now, its done 105K, and it hinestly purrs like a kitten, starts first time, and goes very well for what it is. its just a case of getting to know there little problem areas, its usually one of the things mentioned above. the only major things that go wrong is the dread ticking sound that is follwed by headgasket failure, and they do like to spin the shells if the oil isnt kept topped upto maximum, or, tbh, just above maximum. a lot of the time when they spin the shells, if follows cornering at high revs, with the oil level low, they dont have a baffled sump, and suffer oil starvation, so as i said, keep a regular eye on your oil level, and keep it topped up.
