Fiesta with a Vaux engine?!!
Hello people, long time no see not been on here for a while...
Got an interesting question - myself and a couple of mates have been wanting to build a small track day toy for ages now to mess about with but not got around to it.
Next year we were going to go for it but today I was offered a fully track prepped MK3 Fiesta, all caged up, stripped, coilovers etc at a good price.
It has an RS1800 engine fitted at the moment but its a bit sick so ive been thinking out the box and have had ideas about fitting a Vauxhall C20XE engine (formally known as the Redtop) into the fiesta!
Reason im thinking this is because I have a garage full of Vauxhall and Evo parts and have a C20XE engine sat about that I was planning to rebuild with forged pistons/rods and using a modified Evo manifold so I can run an old Evo turbo etc blah blah....
So anywayyyyy question is has anyone heard about such a conversion on a MK3 fezzer? Not sure how easy its would be to get the redtop in the bay. Will have to go for custom made engine mounts and drive shafts no doubt but any helpful info would be good as never attempted anything like this before haha
If its going to be a nightmare I wont even attempt it but if you crazy car hackers out there think it would work then I got myself a 2010 project!
Only other option would be to sell off all my old Vaux stuff and put a new ford lump in there but I would like to try and stick with the redtop lump....
Cheers for any advice/ideas people

Cheers but its a pain as I have so much Vauxhall stuff sat about, some of it quite hard to come by these days as well, suppose I was hoping that I could do it but after thinking about it I think it might be a lost cause
Out of interest will a 2.0 Zetec (black rocker cover one) out of an earlyish (2000-2001) focus/mondeo along with an MTX75 fit into a MK3 Fiesta OK?
Only other idea I have is selling off the vaux stuff and turboing a Zetec

if you want to do it, then do it.
it can be done, custom mounts and shafts, gearlinkage shouldn't be much of a problem and it'll be a good engine for power to start with.
a zetec would be easier and a duratec st engine would mate up to the five speed box already in the mk3, or fit the six speed getrag box with shafts being customised.

One of my mates just put ax XE into a 106. And another put on in a Suzuki LJ410 and mounted it long ways.
Great choice of engine IMO, ignore all the blinkered people who think a zetec engine is better!
The engine is uber strong and all parts are easy to find and cheap for them. Easy to convert from n/a to turbo too.
If your handy with a welder it will be a fairly straight forward project.

I have a mate who's put a redtop into his classic escort mk2, looks good and drives really well
