As above MIG will deffo not be up to the job.
You need a good tig and also need to be very very good with it otherwise you'll end up blowing holes in the case.
My brother in law is an ex stainless and alloy fabricater who is working with my old man in the gearbox trade and it him about 3 months to master the art of welding the cases. Even now he only does it in very very special circumstances.
What box are you wanting to weld and why?

20K+ Super Poster.
A mig will do it no problem, but will have to be a decent mig, as needs lots of heat input as alloy is such a good conductor of heat, can also as said be tigged or arcd, a local freindly tig place should soon sort it for you cheap enough.

personally i wouldnt be migging it as u'l find it harder to control the flow of product (wire) into the hole and may end up with a large build up on the inside or even worse bits inside . I'd get the tig out on a medium heat with a 3mm upwards 5% sillicone filler rod and take your time, if not get someone else to do it . Cheers Ally
