Default Cosworth CO2 emissions adjustment

Hi guys. Took my car for its MOT yesterday, it failed on minor things likes bulbs and wipers etc. But the big thing was the exhaust emmisions were WAY over. I know there is an adjusting screw on the ECU but my question is 'which way do you turn it to turn it down clockwise or anticlockwise?' The car is a near standard 1990 G 2 wheel drive, only engine mod's are stage 1 chip and air filter eliment.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to get it in the garage to adjust the CO mate, can't do it on the drive.

Unless you have a CO metre, best bet is to have a word with the mot person, if friendly they will be happy to tweak, let you tweak the co, from memory I think it is counter clockwise for leaning, clockwise for richening, but readings on gas metre will soon tell you, don't forget to clear the exhaust every 30 seconds or so, hold at 2500rpm for 20 seconds to do this.
Make sure the fan is not on, esp if you have a cone filter, ingesting hot air will raise the co, but let the fan come on then go off so that you know it is 100% warmed up, if way way off scale maybe fit a new ect sender first ?

Yeah i just want to set it for mot then put it back again and get it setup properly. Car been stood for 2 years so gonna service it too which might help. Just took it to test station mainly to see what it needed and if it was too much was gonna break it. Only real thing is the emissions that need sorting, everything else just silly things like wiper and number plate etc.

Although it is affecting the whole range, it acts as a percentage of the idle fuelling, so has less and less effect the more you move away from idle.
Mot rules are getting tighter, no adjustment can be made once mot test has started, but a quiet word I'm sure most would adjust prior to starting the test proper.
The thing about adjusting for mot and then back to where it should be is a excuse for either a shit ecu or mapping job on the chip, or both, ie complete bollocks, should not be needed.
If I can get through on greys, with 180,000+ miles on bottom end no one has an excuse, my co is as it runs normally, ie NO adjustement whatsoever from everyday, at 0.97% CO, but then it's mapped correctly and runs like a dream.
