Hi,

I have a UK MK6 1.6 16V Escort Saloon Reg in 1996. From cold the car starts well and runs, until operating temperature is reached (or maybe engine has been running long enough for this to happen).

The initial indication is erratic idle, the revs can drop to zero and still recover, (as if hunting for fuel), (Not fuel, we checked this other day when fault occurred) this will be accompanied by the car start to kangaroo if you keep driving, and, eventually the engine will just cut out, the car will restart immediately.

I have replaced every sensor, (that I know of) and (coil pack, plugs, HT leads, C.A.T) Have even changed engine and gearbox. (old engine done 105k new only 49k). had on diagnostic computer and nothing (was told this ECU does not retain error codes).

Simple question any ideas? Were we go next...... have read about PCV valve? would this cause this and were is it? Also something about a cannister system, again I have a cannister located front left of engine bay (driver side) not sure what it does, or if could cause theses problems?

Any help greatly appreciated.

did you check lambada sesor off manifold? Is there a kn fitted? Also when you changed the engine, did you change the ecu also>?
