Yes you can the Cosworth block (205) is a Pinto block these were just simply selected for there bore tolerances (Stamped by the dizzy you will see four numbers your Cosworth one will consist of 2's and 3's and also have a YB number stamped on the front of the block.

As said will all fit, there is this debate that their not good enuff etc but many people have used normal pinto blocks with no problem!! If your worried about using it you can run liners but thats personal prefrence.

I too need to know whether its possible, the numbers by the dizzy on mine say 2323 or it might actually be 3232 but one of those, does this mean it could have been a selected block but not used? Thanks

They are exacly the same, selected as I said for the bore tolerance, external difference being YB followed by a number stamped on front of block, remember this is only as good as the block being on standard bore, once the block is rebored those dizzy figures become totally irelavant.

yeah i heard bout theres 202 blocks and that there stronger than 205's . as i think martin said they were chosen because or there tolorences not because they were machined or infact cast any different. Not a suject i know a lot about . strange that they didnt just machine one block with the same tolorences for the whole yb,pinto range . surley i would have been cheeper

How many of you have cracked a block due to boost ?
Guys run cosworth rods and pistons with pinto crank with an excess of 400bhp all day long over here. Was out on the ice yesterday with one, ran 1.5bars and up to 2.0bars all day, used 150L E85 and a few rally studded tires

No prob fitting the internals, but will have low compression, around 7 iirc.

EDIT: That's 400bhp on pinto head with cossy rods and pistons
