i assume u now have compression on the above cylinders ? if ur sayin that 2 different scanner wont read then surley u have to be askin why . is it the correct ecu for the car? is there even an ecu there ? is the ecu reading the key ok ? is the fuel comtaminated ? exhaust full of water ? air box clear ? all plugs clean properly connected and dare i say where they should be ?. Earths ?

Is the fuel actually reaching the cylinders, I.E injectors working ok? Is the EML light on dash?

Was the engine timed up ok when reassembing?

1.compession fine
2.how do i know the ecu is correrct for model? it is a mk5 ecu and the key turns off the imobilizer
3.not checked the fuel is not contaminated good thought !
4.no water in exhaurst
5. air box and plug leads all ok
6.earths were my only other thought but fuel pump runs fine as does coil pack -spark to all 4 cylinders- turns over nice and fast -my have another root around for other earths i have missed

1. fuel reaching cylinders as took out plugs and they were wet
2.eml light not on
3.engine timed with correct laser zetec timming kit

i was only thinking that the ecu may be at fualt maybe got damp as the wiring loom goes through the top of the bualk head through a large gromet
to the ecu and the ecu sits 6 inches below the gromet (very clever design) to is in the right place for a soaking!!

If you had no ECU present you would have no spark or fuel at all! When you turn the ignition on does the fuel pump prime? The immobiliser must be ok as you have a spark, are the plugs in good condition?

Hi martin thanks for the reply yes the plugs are new gapped to 1.3mm as per ford manual ? yes fuel pump primes it sort of feels sometimes like it wants to start so have bought a crank sensor today as i have found these sometimes go hope that will sort it !!
