Default mk6 2k jitters

hi

got myself a ford escort mk6 while im driving around town and on motorways i get a stutter while hitting the 2k range but once past 2.5k it stops what could be causing this? new plugs and leads on last service

check the engine loom multiplug hasnt come adrift,
its the big plug on the bulk head just behind the inlet plenum,
had this happen on mine and known of a few others its happened on.

also remove the sparkplug cover and check both the wires that go to the coil packs,
these always brake up due to the heat build up under the cover and cause all sorts of running issues,
id replace these as a matter of course.


you should replace all the filters and plugs as a matter of course if you dont know when they were last changed.

Can also be the Mass Air Flow sensor, seen these let go on a few cars. I'm sure on my brothers GTi, his mechanic mate said remove the electrical connection to it, if it runs fine thats your problem.

there isnt a mass airflow sensor on the rs2000's

forgot to mention its the 1.8 16v model not rs2000 but i think my maf is ok as when i unplug it the car nearly stalls indicating a change has been noticed by the car
