st 170 sticking accelerator
Durring this cold snap, my accelerator is sticking but only when first going on the power, i.e after coming off the power and then back on.
I had the same problem last year durring a cold spell but it clears when the weather is'nt freezing.
I've had a look at it and i have narrowed it down the the throttle body as i can feel the resistance, though it only sticks when the engine is running.
Thats made me think its caused by something to do with the air flow/air temp when its freezing out.
I have tried cleaning the current throttle body with no joy.
Anybody have any advice on this before i order a new throttle body ?
Also is this the correct parts number for a st170 throttle body - 1143343.
Cheers in advance

Don't order a new tb, try to narrow precisely what is binding by taking the quadrant off etc to see if it is the spindle binding, or may even just need some usual road grime grit cleaning off the linkage, could try a serious spraying with wd40 etc, then re oil afterwards.
I'm assuming yours is cable throttle, can't remember if they are, or fly by wire, sur eit's cable though.

Yeah it is a cable throttle, only thing with taking it off to narrow down the problem is that when the engine is not running, i cant feel any resistance, only when engine is running ??????

I would first make sure the actual plate has not been disturbed, re align it by loosening the screws holding it to the shaft, just enough so it can move, then work a few times, then retighten, make sure the screw ends are staked over just for peace of mind.

This happened to my st170 back in december. I just cleaned the butterfly with a cloth and carb cleaner, and used the cleaner to clean the cable and oil the spring as well just to make sure. Its all fine now

Common problem with the ST170, can only asume its because of the angle its fitted at. Cleaning the TB and butterfly should solce the problem as its the resedue in the TB that sticks the Butterfly shut. Mine does it every winter. There was a revised throttle cable for the st170 introduced but i believe this was for vibration through the throttle pedal.
