I have a right racket coming from my fuel pump. I have had this a while now, I have put 4 different fuel pumps and it still makes the noise. Even renewed the fuel hose from tank to pump. Engine is rs turbo in my cabriolet. Runs mint, just when left on idle the noise starts....

I know its been a while, got it out the garage the other day after nearly 3 years and it stills makes the same noise. Any ideas?

fuel filter restricting flow thus putting pump under strain id give it a fresh fuel filter. maybe even low voltage not letting the pump, pump fast enough highlioghting noise. mine makes a racket aswell.

 

Good thinking Matt. New fuel filter on its way and i shall check voltage.

 

I had this once, turned out to be the swirl pot in the tank was fooked. New tank and it was mint again

I would put money on what I have said mate. I found out by running the car using a petrol can instead of the tank. Just take off the feed pipe from the tank and bung it in a petrol can.
