Default mk4 escort bottom arm bushes

Is it a common thing for the metal bit in the middle of the rubber bushes that go either side of the bottom arm to seize onto the anti roll bar?!

Had problems with 1 side and ended up cutting the old bushes off the metal bit in the middle and fitting them that way, fitted a new bottom arm on the other side tonight and the first one came off, but the bush that was the other side was stick fast onto the ARB, left it on there in the end as it wasn't perished or anything but obviously would like to take it off properly at some point!!

You will find that when the water gets into the bush, the metal spacer rusts and expands so much that it becomes tight in the hole (oo er!)

The best way if its really stuck would be to disconnect the arm completely (from hub and chassis), take it off the roll bar if it will, then get it in the vice and twat it.
The only difference is that the Mk3 has a rubber inboard joint and the Mk4 has a metal knuckle joint. There will be more play with the Mk3 due to the rubber bush but i wouldnt of thought it would create any sort of juddering?

Best way I found was a SHARP chisel and just slit it, then unpeel it, if you replace with poly bushes these are mostly SS spacers so you won't get the problem again, and they do a lot of good for the handling of the mk3/4.

cheers for that, yea tabs will get polys at some point all round, its the gfs mk4 cabby , almost just about finished fixing all the things that keep going wrong!!!

Its also got a nasty judder under braking, not the brakes as changed these and it did have a new rack a while back but the hub became damaged due to a wheel nearly falling off (dont ask ) thought it was te drivers bottom arm as the dust cover was buggered but changed that last nite and its still doin it!! so only thing i can think is the damaged hub/wheel problem has damaged the rack too................
