zetec conversion ecu problem
hi ive just done a 2.0 zetec conversion into my mk3 escort ,ive used a zetec 1.6i k reg loom, ive got it all up and running but when i put the 2.0 ecu on it wont run ive got 2 ecus desk and dewy and both wont fire it up any ideas what to do ? if not il just run it with the 1.6 ecu but i think it might be down on power with it on
How far do you get with the 2.0 ECU - does the fuel pump run? Does the engine control relay energise?
Are you 100% sure that the pin-out of the 1.6 & 2.0 ECUs are the same, as there can sometimes be minor (but important) differences between them?

both ecus are from 2.0 si models 136 ps,the pump runs but the injectors dont squirt any fuel out,the loom im using has edis external i think?? its on the wiring with a like ignition module plugged in saying edis4,it seems to run ok with the 1.6 ecu i just dont understand it
OK.You cant use the Mondeo ECU`s.They are not meant for external EDIS. Best to do is to get a ECU from a Escort MK5 XR3i 130 PS,early models, they have external EDIS.Or try a ECU from a Mondeo MK1 with auto gearbox.
I found out this because i have 2 Escort MK5,a 1992 1.8 Zetec and a 1994 1.8 Zetec. I`ve put a Mondeo MK1 2.0 ECU in the 94 and it works, but when i fitted the same 2.0 ECU in the 92 it wouldnt start.I got a hold of a ECU from a 92 Escort 1.8 XR3i 130 PS and that worked. Later i discovered that the 92 Escort has external EDIS and tried a ECU from a Mondeo MK1 2.0 auto gearbox wich also have external EDIS,and the car started. I havent driven it yet so i dont know if it has got more power.

DEEP (93BB) ECU is a 2.0L Non-Pats, Manual Transmission ECU from an early Mk1 Mondeo.
Why you would have a Pats Control Unit there though... - I dont know.
