Induction kit with a cold air feed, custom intercooler installation and then have the boost and fueling turned up - good for 130 to 140bhp

Does anyone know of any off the shelf i/c kits? How good is the standard ford i/c? My escort has the non-intercooled installation....

Put an LPG conversion on it, more bhp and better miles if your easy on the right foot.

The Escort and Mondeo have top-mount inter-warmers above the exhaust manifold. Obviously a front mount would be better.
This video gives detail on Peugot engines, but the principles are the same. There are obviously additional parts.

the ford 1.8 td engine is pretty useless to be honest! Ive tuned many pug 1.9 td engines with great results in the past, the 1.8'scome with the shite lucas fuel pump ( as shown in darrens video^^) which cant really make good power.

You can fit an intercooler easily enough all you need is 2 90 degree pipes for the turbo and inlet manifold ( or find a non turbo inlet manifold) and some boost pipes, a 4x4 cossie intercooler would be fine.

The fueling would have to be adjusted by the max fuel ( black screw in cap on the front) annd the boost compensator (14mm locknut also on the front of the pump) you can also advance the timing of the pump by undoing the 13mm lock nuts and rotating the pump upwards.

Boost shouldnt run more than 20 psi as the turbo will run out of puff and will just make less power.

the standard 1.8 TD p100/sierra doesnt have an intercooler.
putting one on will help a fair bit.
you can turn the fuel and boost up, put a big K&N on it, big pipe and and an intercooler but you will probably only see 110bhp
i turned the boost and fuel up on one and ran it with a down pipe and an old group A filter from a cossy and i only had 97bhp :/

Add NITROUS, seriously can add 75bhp totally safely, it works far better on diesels than petrols.

nope, they have an ecu, mk1 td engine is 100% mechanical and only requires 12v to stop solenoid on the fuel pump

Lucas pumps can make power, they are just smokey off boost compared to Bosch pump engines.
I reckon a good intercooler, induction kit and a fairly straight through ehxuast will be all thats needed interms of hardware. After that it's just turn the turbo up and the fueling, maybe advance the pump slightly.
Also stick 200ml two stroke oil in with every tank of diesel

The two stroke helps lubricate the pump and makes the engine smoother.

Also was having a think last night.
Didn't Sierras come with a Peugeot 2.3D engine?
Now if you could get the gearbox off one of them then Peugeots XUD9TE engine should bolt straight upto it.
An XUD9TE with a well modified pump, straight through exhaust and an FMIC will make 140-150bhp.
If you can get an XUD9TE with a bosch pump then you can run it on 100% Vegtable oil too.

Food for thought?

Get it... Vegtable oil / Food for thought

Ahh my comedy genius is wasted on you lot
