Default Mk6 Escort Steering Wheel

I have a simple question about this,

How the fcuk do you get it off???

I was having a bash at taking the front cover off it yesterday but it didn't seem to want to budge, didn't just want to rip it off either. Is there an easy way of doing this? It's the air bag steering wheel.

Cheers
Scott

Disconnect your battery and leave it half an hour, turn the wheel through 90 degrees and you'll find a nut in the back (about 6mm iirc) undo this, then turn 180 degrees the other way and do the same. The AIRBAG will come off then. Then you'll see the big nut in the middle.
Dont do it with the battery connected, theres a possibility that the airbag could go off in your face. And that fuckin hurts and deafens you trust me.

Cheers Davey.

I am in the process of stripping the car and the loom, engine, etc is all disconnected, so hopefully the airbag wont say hello ha ha. I was trying to take the dash out last night and just couldn't get the steering wheel off so will give that a bash tonight probably.

Also sounds like you have had an airbag go off in your face? Ouch...

Cheers
