Depends on budget, what you want, personally I wouldn't use a cossie ecu on even a bog std cossie, other people have thie own opinion, there are some very good ecu's for not a heap of money.

pectel t2 mate speak to ian howell @ area six motorsport/fiesta frenzy , i think it costs around about £1200/1300 for the new ecu , a custom built wiring harness to suit your car and £250/300 for a ahmed bajoo live map. sounds expensive but everything is new mate so you cant go wrong , plus if you sell it in a years time you would get a very close price to what you brought it for. ive heard to get cossie stuff fitted and running properly with you supplying the bits it can cost up £2000 mapped and that was my mates car who went to norris motorsports. dont make sense when youn can have new , hope this helps mate

Probably best to speak with who ever is going to map the car as each tuner will have there own preference, as an example:

Jamsport will recomend GoTech
NMS will say Cosworth L8
MA Developments will say Autronics or ViPec
TOTD will say Omex

Best to picks your tuner, takes your choice and pay your money

The cossie ecu's can be used to excellent effect, but if you want to go further it can work out very expensive with addded on bits then remap with every mod etc, ask why a lot of cossie people don't use them, they were good in thier day, well no actually the early were shite in thier day to be fair, but ford were interested in sales nothing else.
Bits are going to become harder to find for these ecu's sensor wise, makers are not going to cater for a tiny market, that is getting smaller.
I would also not just pay for a name, you really need to have a budget, the loom on the zetec can be altered to have the new ecu end on, so saving some money there, assuming you are going to have the car mapped on the rollers, consider who you trust, who is close to you, but if you don't mind travelling location not so important, but go by what the person you use reccomends, as he will know this system very well.

I don't know the ofab ofac ecu's at all, but would assume if they are userable nms would use them, I would be tempted to use nms and do what they say, just a hell of a lot easier if there are any odd problems, knowing nms there won't be but cars always go wrong anyway.

I have megasquirt on my Merkur. Speed density, launch control, closed loop learning, autotune, etc. Pretty fancy stuff. Open source as well.
