1998 Escort 1.8Si Zetec - no start after HG change
Hi folks - am hoping someone here can shed some light on this;
I was given an Escort 1.8 Si with the Zetec 115PS engine to look at as the headgasket had blown after being overheated.
I stripped it down, got the head skimmed, changed the faulty radiator fan and built it all back up and now it doesn't want to start.
It's getting fuel pressure, ignition spark and turning over but not firing at all.
When I set the timing I set TDC from the aux. belt pulley on the end of the crankshaft (as per haynes manual) and locked the cams using the channels in the ends before refitting the belt and tensioning it up...I'm confident that's all ok.
Has anyone got any clues? How can I pull the fault codes from the ECU? I'm 100% clued up on Toyotas but not a ford specialist...this is where you guys come in!
All genuine and helpful replies will be gratefully accepted - thanks for your time!

this happened on my mates zetec when he done an engine swap, it turned out the some of the wires in the wiring loom to the inlet manifold & fuel rail had broken up inside the insulation
it was OK if it had been left in situ, but when it was disturbed to remove everything it broke some wires.
might not be the case on yours but is worth checking
