Haa the old dreaded pulley bolt lol.. it's anticlockwise to loosen. You'll need some heat from a good burner directed onto the pulley and the bolt,,Watch you don't melt anything. I heated mine for about 5 mins .. then My mate assisted by using a 3 foot long bar and i made sure it would stay central.
I've always removed the prop shaft, and the whole gearbox, i've never split it from the bellhousing. I suggest you should try supporting the engine and dropping the engine mounts to give you some more movement.. Just curious are you just changing the cambelt ???

i was just thinking of the rear movement space as the whole shaft would have to come out past the clutch housing so i would have thought the engine would have to lean down to clear the tunnel, but not sure so will go for the whole thing off as i need to do clutch as well anyway and the spigot bearing, gonna do them all while its off to be safe

can be done quite easily leaving the bell housing in place. get the prop & exhaust out of the way then undo the 4 torx bolts. make sure you use a decent fitting bit & you will need a long extension for the top 2

thanks ian, but the drama i am having is to get the exhaust out of the way as i have very little space under the car due to it only being on the axle stands mate

exhaust does need to come off, split it on the car ie back box first, centre section then front pipe, don't loosen anything on next section to give you some levarage on the part you are trying to remove

bell housing can stay put
1. unbolt exhaust from exhaust housing on turbo
2. unbolt gearbount mount
3. unbolt prop
4. you might have to split the gear lever 2 13mm bolts from inside car (cant remember )
5. unbolt gearbox and should have enough room to get the gearbox under the cross member
that's how i dont mine on my saff and it saves having to take the exhaust off completely
this is with me having full workshop facilities though, and i wouldnt want to do one on the deck!! you're a braver man than me in this weather
