Default Diesel Smoke

Ive adjusted the fuel pump on my Endura lump. How much smoke would be acceptable for mot, its only noticeable in the dark in cars headlights that are behind me, in the day i cant see any in my wing mirrors apart from when i first start it. Do people think that would be acceptable?? cheers

Stand behind the car while someone revs the balls off it. If it looks too smoky, then the mot tester will think the same

It's totally normal to see the smoke in cars headlights from a diesel, even when perfect, and even though you can't in daytime, I noticed this all the time in my diesel I had.

I only had a std 1.8 non turbo escort mk4 but turned mine up(lucas cav) quite a way, no smoke, but around 8mpg more, as it developed much more torque, had indicted 112mph, evetually but 0-60 was still measured in weeks!!
You always will see the diesel in car headlights it due to the unique properties of disel emissions and the light spectrum that headlight bulbs work on/at.

Mine used to get up to 80 quite quick, for what it was but took and age to accelerate after 100, make sure you use a genuine DELPHI filter, and shove some MILLERS diesel system cleaner in there, this is by far the best cleaner I ever used, use bio as well, as this defo perks it up.
I founf a lot of pattern fuel filters would not flow as well as the genuine dlephi ones, and held mine back a bit, a noticeable amount, and every little helps, also up the full pedal stop on pump, as they can take much more revs.

Induction side on this would probably offer no gains at all. some pump stops are set very low.
It would not hurt to pull the KAM fuse so it relearns, when you have done the above.
Failing this I would trot over to VAN AAKEN, to see if they can help.
