Default heater problem

having heater trouble in my little fiesta.
theres no misfire or sludge in the coolant tank/oil filler cap and the temp gauge never gets past 1/4 of the temp scale so that rules out HGF.

apparently the fords are known for this...what could be the problem?

thanks in advance

Before you change stat and anti freeze, I would run around for a few hundred miles with WYNN's cooling system cleaner, it gets out every last bit of crap out of there, and will leave it in the bottom of the expansion tank in a opaque gel like substance, but god it works so well.
Then new stat/a,freeze and if still reading low a temp sender, mine always shows low about 1/4 even with new stat etc, though if it sits in traffic and goes up to about 3/4 it will generally stay there for the rest of the day.

What kind of trouble are you having exactly bud ? If it doesn't blow hot then chances are it's the "heater control valve" under the wipers that's knackered (if your car has one ?). £20, an hour to replace, google it.

that is exactly what the problem was,the solenoid on the heater valve was knackered.
i connected the new part up and it worked perfectly with a good click then tried the old unit and it was silent.

got a nice warm toasty fiesta now
