hey i have a 1.8Si escort (mk6) i recently put the cams, throttle body and MAF sensor from a 2.0L on it - sometimes i get quite a good bit of pull from it but other times, when putting your foot down in any gear it will keep going up in revs but lose all the torque (its not the clutch by the way) any help would much appreciated

Thanks
u still got the 1.8 pcm in it , so its working 2.0 cams with 1.8 fueling
You're using the wrong MAF, that's why. You shouldn't just swap engine parts around - Ford had a pretty good idea about what they were doing when they built your 1.8

or just unplug the maf

Reason: missed a word
ford had a good idea about economy not power. everybody i have spoke to on other websites has said use the 2.0L sensor - do you think the 1.8 one will work better?
fair enough i'll try unplugging it and see if it works if not its off to ford thanks mate, by the way i have a set of rims for sale how do i post em up?

If you think your engine is running economically at full throttle (especially on a cat car), then you are sadly mistaken
The load calculation in the ECU is primarily generated by the signal from the MAF. By using the wrong MAF (eg, one with a different linearisation curve), you're just running in the wrong parts of the MAF. It's like running the wrong chip in a car. It doesn't work.
if anyone can help - again - i have a 2.0L ECU, i plugged it in but the car wouldn't even turn over any suggestions? and to the above if it works i'll let ya know.
no actually it works now! 2.0L ECU cams throttle body and MAF sensor! i managed to get a guide that tells you what pins to change on the wiring loom plug swapped them around - started first time and goes alot better! thanks for all your help though
