hi can anyone tell me if i can use a ib5 gearbox in my s2?? im certain my input shaft bearing is shot. the ib5 is from a 1.8 escort gti

Yes you can. Just make sure the start motor is not located at the back of the block with that gearbox. This won't go together with the oil filter of the cvh. I think all mk5&6 Escorts had the start at the front though. The gearbox won't have an LSD unless you exchange it from your previous gearbox.

 

Mk 5,6 escort ib5 has starter at the rear could be a fiesta one at the front i think.

 

I don't actually think that any mk5 was ever fitted with an IB5, now to think of it.
