Default Only running 5 psi.. help needed please

Ok, ive recently had a rs turbo convertion, and since i did, it aint been right.

Ive so far done... boost samco kit, boost controller, and boost gauge.

The boost samco kit sorted alot of the problem by shooting it upto 5 psi, but now, with the boost controller almost fully out, what else can be the problem.. i need help guys please.

1. Samco boost hoses
2.Ive bought an inlet manifold gasket (fitting tomorow)

I have a slight gap in my exhaust joining to the end of the manifold, in which im getting sorted aswell.. but apart from those... what else?

Please help guys, even if you put i duno.. then i know i need to look for profesional help.

I dont know, and no since ive had the engine.

It was out of a E reg RSTuRBO S2. It was running really fast and nice when it was in that, and since ive had it, nothing.

So whats next to get it sorted? Set up?

Whe you have car running, does it run nice and smooth or lumpy plus can you here an air leak anywhere?
Are you running a dump valve?

When the car is running, it does run a bit lumpy occationally, and only today have i started it and yes it is lumpy, it almost seems like it could cut out, if i take it for a spin, it dont do it so much, its like 20% of the time its lumpy. Yes i can hear an air leek coming from the engine, which seems to be the inlet manifold, so ive bought a new gasket... you think this will help once fitted?

I also have a slight gap in my exhaust close to the exhaust manifold, but its directly under the front seats... if you know what i mean. Yes ive got a dump vavle on, a baily one, but i bought samcos with it, so no air leek there.

at the back of the inlet manifold there are some black plastic pipes, where they fit on the inlet there should be a rubber sleeve type thing that sits inside, check that as thats a common thing to go and get air sucking in.

Thanks, ill go and check that now, ive gone thru almost every pipe, and tightened up the gclips, but still seems to be by the inlet manifold,......

can you hold on a bit, while i go and check it? if it is, what to do?

if you suspect an air leak at the manifold, try spraying some carb cleaner around the gaskets & hoses in that area, if the revs pick up momentarily thats where your leak is. if no leak is found, try clamping/blocking off the hose at the actuator & take it for a test drive, if it goes like a rocket, get it set up. warning:the turbo will be allowed to boost excessively & can harm the engine, so dont go mad! if you hear any pinking/rattling ease off!

I dont know whether it is an air leak you see, because this is the first turbo ive ever had, they could sound like what i think is a problem. Theres a constand sssssssssssssssss coming from the manifold, leading me to think theres an air leak.

Ive checked every pipe conection and every both in the engine except round the back of the manifold because its a convertion, and i cant get round there. The head of the engine was loose aswell, so ive tightnened that up. Changed all hoses, and turned the boost controller up.

Which hose of the actuator do i block up to test it? Also, is it possible if i change the actuator, will that solve it?

Thanks so much for your help.

I think the best option is to get a mechanic to look at it or do you live near any known tuners??

Yeh ive just turned it the other way, and i have no boost, so yes i am.

I think next is to replace the manifold gasket, check all hoses, buy a cossie actuator and then if it aint right, get it checked out

I have no idea! Does that make a difference?

BTW: I checked the back of the manifold, and there was a pipe loose, so i put another clip on it and its running just a fraction below 6 psi now.. also im teething thru the engine over bits, but its gota be a problem somewhere cuz ive nearly completed checking everything. Turbo is fine BTW, cuz i checked the blades and centre.

if your ecu isnt chipped then you wont be able to run more than 10psi anyway, but the chip controls boost via amal valve.

K18, this does sound like your ecu mate. I would take it to PJ motorsport for a check over. Its only down the road from us dude!!!!!!

Other than that I can put you in touch with a mate who will look at it (and he is cheaper).

He knows his shit, as he has a rs500, rst series 2 and a escy cos. His mate has a saph cos, so your in safe hands
