Exclamation fiesta knocking sound problem

Hi, my fiesta ran out of oil the over day and started knocking. The damage has been done so please dont bother telling me im an idiot for letting it run so low but the point is me and my friend who's a mechanic have took the sump off to try and figure it out and we have found bits of metal in the bottom. Some of the metal bits are rounded and others are just little bits. Could it be a bearing as we think it may well be this. Also the metal bits havent been pumped around the engine due to the oil pump having a filter gauze. If it is from the top end and has scored the cyclider/piston, how much would it cost to get the engine bored? thanks alot guys n gals

It is most likely the top surface of the big end bearings that are in the bottom as these are generally first to go.
