Easiest way to replace engine mounts?
on a 4x4 sapphire cos? attempted to replace the engine mounts today, undid all the bolts so that the mounts were loose, had the weight of the engine on the jack, jacked the engine up to try lift over the thread on the mounts but couldn't jack it up any further as we didn't want to break anything else. so then tried to loosen the bracket thats connected to the block and the mount but couldn't get to the last bolt (i think theres 5 in total). so, tommorrow we are going to re-attempt, but is there an easier way than taking all of the plenum off, and whatever is needed on the exhaust side to get the mounts off? any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers.
On the passenger side, you needd to slacken the Oil filter relocation arm and swing it up out of the way to get to the last bolt that holds the bracket to the block. There are 4 bolts in total, M8 thread with a 10mm socket head.
You may also need to remove the plenumn to mount arm support bracket aswell if it is still fitted, thats only 2 bolts and easy to get to.

You'll need a 24 or 25mm spanner to get at the big nut holding the relocation arm to the modine/block, make sure you undo it enough to move the arm a few mm out from the modine, or you will split the rubber gasket when you lift it upwards
that was a great help thanks mate! it was a 27mm spanner to get the nut out that holds the arm (for future reference for anyone!) got it all done in about 2 hours. compared to yesterday when we were on it for about 4 hours and then had to put it all back together. it was only a matter of time before the old mounts failed, they were perished to fook! got the new mounts from martin @ reyland, car feels alot better, mounts seem real good quality as expected!

Excellent stuff
I couldn't remember exactley what size spanner it is, last time I did the same job was 3 years ago
Just make sure that the rubber gasket hasn't split and you'll be fine
