Default YB engine stalling when hot ?

My car decided to stall tonight for no reason whilst sat at a longish idle and would not start again (Car was turning over, but would not start). Left to cool down for approx 10 minutes and it started ?

Then, while running I lost power and had to pull over to the side of the road and called the RAC.

I had left it 15 mins or so and tried it again and it started ?!? Sounded fine, so decided to drive it home slowly and it made it.

Coolant / oil / charge temps were all fine and rad fan is working etc.

I am unaware of heat related stalling issues, are there any ?

How can I get a fuel pump checked ? I am running a Bosch 044 and its noisey as heck all of the time, is this ok ?

Any ideas would be great.

For a start, Im going to check the wiring to the fuel pump and the pump itself.

if your fuel pump is noisy try changing your fuel filter as this sometimes cases noisy pumps and fuel starvation when they are semi blocked.

Could be water temp sensor. Mine had similar thing and after changing all sensors it was the fuel pump not giving enough pressure.

The easiest way might be to wait until it stalls again and see if you have lost spark or fuel ?

OK. Well after running for approx 45 minutes at idle last night it cut out again. I tested for a spark 3 times and nothing. Then left it 5 / 10 minutes and then the spark had come back. I could smell fuel aswell, so I guess that rules out the fuel pump and crank sensor.

Starting to think it could be the ignition module........

My problem turned out to be a female spade not seated correctly in the connection block for the ignition module. Took sleeve off, pushed spade in and it seems to be ok now.

At least Ive got a spare ignition module now......

The intermittant ones are al ways the buggers to find as never there at the time you want them.
Glad you got it fixed, if you need new connectors and suchlike I use polevolt.co.uk
