Default How do you remove the steering wheel?

This may seem like a stupid question but how do you remove the steering wheel from a MKIII escort?

I've removed one before. Undo the centre nut on the steering wheel and then just down to shear force. Is this the right way and only way?

I've tried to remove the one on my new car and it won't budge. Is there a tool you can buy to assist or is there another way that I don't know about?

Help need, its doing my in

Default Hub puller?

How much are hub pullers roughly. Can I get them at my local Halfords?

Cheers, MIKE

F*ck knows!
Probably, I always pull 'em off.
Loosen the nut, but leave it on and yank for your life.

defo the steering lock, catches a lot of people out, not me of course.........

Anyway, leave the nut on a couple of threads and persuade it off using a soft mallet (be carfule not to leave marks on the wheel). This is how i did it.
